The United Nations Warns Of Mass Displacement From Aleppo

Since the Syrian Army’s unprecedented assault into eastern Aleppo last weekend, tens of thousands of people have been displaced. The United Nations has warned that a further 250 000 people are wanting to leave, but are being prevented from doing so by the ensuing conflict.

Many are being held by rebel forces in the eastern part of the city, while others fear that they will be deemed as enemies by Syrian Government forces upon their escape. However, with conditions deteriorating daily, and the United Nations warning of civilians being “exterminated” in the city, many will have no option but to flee to government-held areas when the opportunity presents itself.
