Security tightened in Sinjar in preparation for Mosul battle

Security in and around the town of Sinjar is being tightened in anticipation of the battle for Mosul.

The battle to retake the city of Mosul is forecasted to begin by the middle of the month and Sinjar, which is currently under the control of the Peshmerga, may be vulnerable. The town is 70 kilometres west of Mosul, and ISIS runaways will look to head in this direction as the battle ensues.

The massacre at Sinjar of five thousand Yazidi men is by no means forgotten, and the Peshmerga will seek to enure that there are no such recurrences of what happened in August 2014.
