Political rivals in Iraq have agreed on the program of the designated Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi. The proposed program focusses heavily on developing the economy and diversifying away from oil. The new government is expected to be in place within two weeks.
Iraq's parliamentary elections set for May 12 will indirectly decide on a new prime minister and president. This is the fourth parliamentary elections since the 2003 US invasion of Iraq and the first since the liberation from ISIS.
