The Conditional Cash Transfer for Education aid programme, is aimed at keeping Syrian children, whose families receive monthly benefits, in school rather than out working. According to UNICEF data, around 600,000 school-age Syrian children are in education in Turkey while another 400,000 are not.
The School of Music and Ballet in Baghdad has survived since 1968, despite war, funding crises and a conservative backlash threatening its existence. Zeina Fayzy, the only paid ballet teacher at the school says she faced a lot of backlash from the community after posting pictures on social media.
The Tal al-Daman Educational Complex, which at one point was once a large building with classrooms, has transformed into scattered tents in Western Aleppo. Teachers and parents paid out of their own pocket so that they may buy tents for the children to be taught in.
