Earlier this month the Egyptian Supreme Judiciary Council decided to promote 16 female judges. While women have been latecomers to the Egyptian judiciary, they have been inching toward key posts in waves.
As the Lebanese government is being formed, Lebanese women launch a campaign to pressure winning parties and coalitions to have at least 30% of the ministries and cabinet position be held by women in the upcoming government.
After the appointment of two new female ministers on Thursday, the current Egyptian cabinet is made up of 8 female ministers. This results in a quarter of the Egyptian cabinet being occupied by female ministers.
As Egypt prepares to participate in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, more Egyptian women move to the soccer field, both as referees and fans. Two women have already been made referees in Egypt's Second Division.
