Algerian authorities have informed head of Libya’s Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez al-Sarraj, of their strong rejection to any foreign intervention in Libya, Algerian diplomatic sources said.
The privately-owned Algerian outlet Ennahar TV announced the death of army chief Ahmed Gaid Salah on Monday. Salah, who was 79, was pivotal in forcing the resignation of former president Abdelaziz Bouteflika in April earlier this year.
On December 12th, Algeria held its first elections since the ousting of its long-standing President, Abdelaziz Bouteflika. However, the elections were marred by low turnout, with the protest movement viewing all candidates as members of the establishment.
