ISIS try to heal their fighters' broken morale through propaganda

ISIS’s grip on Iraq is approaching its end. With 1/3 of the eastern part of Mosul liberated, Iraqi Security Forces are continuing their assault towards the city centre, ending more than two years of ISIS rule on the city.

In an attempt to increase morale among their ranks, the group has announced the formation of the “Levantine Brigades”, to boost their security profile in the streets of Mosul. However, reports indicate this is just a propaganda ruse instigated by the group to provide the illusion of security, as the majority of the members of the “Levantine Brigades” have not come from Raqqa, but have been recycled from other ISIS offices in Mosul.
