United Nations (UN) Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, visited the Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri, on Sunday, as part of his tour of the region. The two officials discussed the need for maintaining coordination between Syria and Egypt, in order to revive Syria's stability.
On Sunday, more than 300 doctors and nurses rallied in the rebel-held province of Idlib, urging the international community to protect them against an expected offensive by the Syrian Government and its allies.
Russian, Iranian and Turkish officials gather in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan in hopes of reaching a political settlement in Syria. Representatives from the United States did not attend this round of talks.
