Muqtada al-Sadr the leader of the winning Sa’iroun Alliance called on Twitter for a halt on all political negotiations until the protesters demands are met. Sadr met with Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, Jan Kubic on Thursday in order to discuss the situation of the country.
Residents from the city of Fallujah in Anbar Province celebrate the second anniversary of their liberation from ISIS control. Representatives from different provinces came to Fallujah to send a message to the world that Iraq is non-sectarian and united.
Current Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and Shi'a cleric Muqtada al-Sadr whose bloc, the Sa'iroun Alliance, won the most seats in the recent elections, announced that their political blocs would enter into an alliance. The leaders said that their alliance will cross sectarian and ethnic divisions.
