President Donald Trump signed the Iraq and Syria Genocide Relief and Accountability Act into law Dec. 11. The law instructs the federal government to prioritize assistance for religious and ethnic minorities that have been targeted for "genocide, crimes against humanity or war crimes".
On Sunday, 16 Iraqi political groups who gained seats in the May elections announced that they have formed the largest parliamentary bloc. The Alliance includes 177 lawmakers from 16 electoral lists and is now in pole position to form country's next government.
