Joining the crisis in Tripoli on the side of the UN-backed Presidential Council have been groups such as the Benghazi Defence Brigades, designated by the US and the UK as a terrorist organisation, and the militia run by Misratan radical Salah Badi.
The Iraqi Government and the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) have launched a national strategy to combat violence against women in an event in Baghdad. The strategy provides a framework on which policy makers will draw actions on preventing violence against women and girls.
On Monday, the Women Empowerment Conference was held in Baghdad, in coordination with international and Iraqi female figures. The conference seeks to encourage women to have bigger political roles in Iraqi politics.
On Wednesday 18th of July, Egypt and the United Nations signed a Declaration of Intent which gives Egypt support to rebuild Sinai. The UNDP representative present at the signing stressed the organisations support in developing Sinai.
