State prosecutors in Algeria announced that they have banned individuals linked with corruption from leaving the country amidst reports that Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika might resign this week.
The Armed Forces of Algeria are pushing for President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to step down amidst continued protests. However, the ruling FLN has, so far, been unable to find a replacement that satisfies all sides.
Amnesty International has warned the Algerian government against the use of excessive force ahead of the massive anti-government protests. Citizens of Algeria have been calling for President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to renounce his plans to extend his 20-year presidency.
