Resistance and revolution in Mosul against ISIS

Resistance groups in Mosul are gaining prominence as Iraqi Security Forces and the Peshmerga approach the city from the southern and eastern axes.

Reports coming from the city suggest that these forces are only several kilometres away from the city and are preparing to stage an assault once further villages, which have already been liberated, are cleansed of IEDs and ISIS militants.

Once security forces begin their assault, resistance groups, such as “M Resistance“, will be key in providing internal support within the city and ensuring the safety of civilians, some of whom will likely be exploited by ISIS as human shields. Reports reveal that the news about a revolution forming against ISIS has been spreading since the end of summer, when Mosul liberation operations took shape.
