President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), Nechirvan Barzani, met with senior Iraqi officials and and stated his region's government is ready to resolve issues between Erbil and Baghdad.
Kurdistan Region’s President Nechirvan Barzani met with senior Iraqi officials in Baghdad on Thursday (June 20), reiterating the region’s readiness to resolve issues between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad.
Barzani arrived in Baghdad on Thursday morning for talks with senior Iraqi officials on the suspended issues between Erbil and Baghdad.
President Barzani met with Iraqi President Barham Salih, Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi, and Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi during his visit.
“I reiterated that the Kurdistan Region is ready to resolve all outstanding issues with Iraqi federal government in accordance with the Constitution, and continue our bilateral cooperation,” Barzani wrote on Twitter.
This is the first visit of Barzani to Baghdad since his election as President of Kurdistan Region last month.
