Iraqi Counter Terrorism Forces close to liberating six new neighbourhoods

Iraqi Counter Terrorism Forces advance in their efforts to liberate the entire Iraqi city of Mosul.

General Yahya Rasoul, the joint task force spokesman, said that forces of the 15th Brigade have entered six new neighborhoods on the left bank. Counter Terrorism Forces have been driving towards the centre of the city as ISIS loses more ground.

General Rasoul added that he would announce the liberation of the captured neighborhoods shortly. As the second phase of the operation commences, Iraqi security forces are believed to retake the east bank very soon. Forces have been criticised for making little progress on the northern and western axes. The offensive to liberate the city began in October.

Elsewhere in Mosul, ISIS militants have been killed by Iraq’s Federal Police forces in attacks close to the German hospital and Mosul airport.
