Abu Hassan al-Muhajir: ISIS' new spokesman

After the death of ISIS’s former spokesman, Abu Mohamed al-Adnani, on 30th August this year, the terrorist group has finally announced his successor: Abu Hassan al-Muhajir.

The announcement of a new spokesman comes at an essential time for ISIS given their sustained losses in Iraq and Syria. Many observers are touting this move as a way of reigniting their recruitment machine that has stalled in recent months following a reduction in victories, propaganda output, and a cut in militants’ salaries.

This is particularly evident given that al-Muhajir’s first speech picked up where Adnani left off, instructing ISIS’s members and supporters to fight on in Iraq and Syria.
